AMETHYSTOS BRACELET

A bracelet for holding on to yourself.

An embodiment of keep it simple (my version): a big, steady, cooling hunk of raw amethyst.  It's matte, tactile, and unapologetically itself.  

This yummy speciment rests on a backdrop of millefiori and teal glass beads, with a black glass evil eye keeping watch and a single striped whelk slipping in the ocean rhythm.

A vintage, handmade copper toggle closure brings in the human element; warm, conductive, irregular but completely correct.

This amethyst doesn't lead with sparkle, but with presence.  The Greeks' title for the stone, amethystos, translates into our language as "not drunk", but that's a bit reductive as to what they actually meant when they said it.  It was used while drinking in an effort to maintain one's own tether unto themselves.  "Drunk" in this context also meant becoming swept away:  dissociation, other people's drama, overwhelm, dissociation. Amethyst keeps us rooted, steady, within our own bounds, on our own side of the street, where we belong anyway.

It's a wild world out there, babes.  Keep your center where it belongs.
