Not to belabor the point, but as I've stated so many times on this site, pearls aren't just metaphors for boundaries, they are the boundaries.
The bivalve responds to parasitic invasion by covering the parasite in nacre. Those trippy rainbow blobs? They're entombed parasites. Wearing them is a lot like wearing the remnants of your enemies. I love them.
TO CATCH A PARASITE is the most literal form of that inspiration I've made so far: a crocheted, avant garde, asymmetrical, endlessly convertible body jewelry piece hand crocheted out of slick black cord and populated with exceptional vintage grey baroque pearls. High nacre, gorgeous quality, absolutely spectacular iridescence.
They're caught in the web and tethered down by sterling silver pins. The cord is slippery and drapes and shifts like a dream, leading the charge for the endless options this piece affords.
It's a harness, a shoulder holster, a necklace, a chest piece. Because boundaries can be flexible and assertive at the same damn time.
