INNER NAIAD WORK (PIVOT) WRAP

A multi-use wrap neckpiece for those who might have emerged later in life, but more than made up for it in fierceness.

Made to accommodate a daily mood or certain neckline, this wrap was made so that it can be worn as a lariat, wrapped around once with the ends draped or tied, looped, wrapped around three times, or whatever else you can come up with on your own.  Less limits, more improvisation.

This piece is a confetti of stone, vintage lampworked glass and crystal, shells, and other found objects smattered amongst vintage metallic rose bugle beads. in the center of this sporadic expression of joy, a vintage carved copal dragonfly is hung from copper.  Fragrant and rich, copal is a sacred tree resin (also named "the blood of the trees") usually used ceremonially, often to bridge realms and to spiritually cleanse.  Here, it softly carries that energy through the archetype of the dragonfly:  fierce, nimble, determined.

The central stones surrounding the dragonfly are (from left) lapis lazuli, fire agate, natural green chrysoprase (undyed), natural green phantom quartz, and a tiny garnet round.

Dragonflies spend the majority of their life cycle underwater as nymphs.  One day, they decide to get into the sun.  This is when the wings sprout.  Once they do, dragonflies are apex predators (read:  bad bitch energy).  They devour mosquitoes, fly multidirectionally; in short, an absolute force to be reckoned with.

the large end beads are carnelian topped with lapis on one side, and orange aventurine and Royston Family Nevada Turquoise topping a handmade ceramic bead on the other.

This piece is in honor of late-in-life emergence, a graduation gift after spending a long time under the water and finally opting to get into the sunlight.
